Billing & Coding Specialist – Outpatient Behavioral Health Practice

Rainbow of Resilience is a community behavioral health practice in Columbus, Ohio,
providing online and in-person mental health services for individuals, children, couples,
and families. We specialize in trauma-informed, client-centered care with a strong focus
on anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, black/brown, and LGBTQ+ affirming services.
As we continue to expand, we are seeking a detail-oriented Billing & Coding Specialist
to support our administrative and financial operations.
Position Summary
The Billing & Coding Specialist will ensure accurate coding, claims submission, reimbursement tracking, and billing compliance for clinical services. This role is essential to supporting smooth revenue cycle operations, maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations, and ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement for services rendered. The position requires strong attention to detail, coding proficiency, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities
Billing & Coding Operations
- Accurately translate diagnoses, services, and procedures into standardized
alphanumeric codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS). - Prepare and submit insurance claims for reimbursement in accordance with
payer requirements. - Ensure coding accuracy to support clean claims and minimize denials.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and insurance regulations.
Client Account & Claims Management
- Manage client billing records and update account information as needed.
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage details.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, outstanding balances, and denied claims.
- Track payments, reconcile accounts, and document financial activity accurately.
Coordination & Communication
- Communicate effectively with clients, providers, and insurance companies
regarding billing concerns. - Collaborate with clinical staff and leadership to ensure proper documentation for coding and billing compliance.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards in all interactions.
Expected Hours of Work
- Monday–Friday, 20-30 hours per week, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Associate degree in Health Information Technology or related field (preferred).
- Certification in medical coding (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) highly preferred.
- Previous experience in medical billing and coding preferred.
- Proficiency with ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes, and insurance billing procedures.
- Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
